April ‘25 Template Pack: Art Collection

Create beautiful widgets using these SwiftUI templates inspired by a Sunday's museum visit.

Our new template pack this month features eight widgets inspired by the Musée de l'Orangerie in Paris, France. We designed these SwiftUI templates to be as helpful as possible with essential widget layouts that you'll commonly need when creating widgets for your app.

In this post you'll get a look at each template and our recommendations for how best to use them. Let's dive in!

1. Art Widget

This beautiful, simple design works for situations where you want to prominently feature an image and have a single caption or single line of text to overlay on top.

2. Navigation to Museum Widget

This design gives you an example to use for when you have panels in your widget, like this top-and-bottom layout, and also gives you a starting point for more complex layouts that are typical for maps and navigation.

3. Museum Hours Widget

We love an example of dense information in a compact space and designing with the Small Widget size is nothing if not compact. This template we are really excited about because at the end of the day, it's just text, but there is so much you can communicate through layout, color, and spacing. A lot of Apple system designs do this sort of thing very well, and this template should serve as a great starting point for the next time you set out to do the same.

4. Museum Tour Widget (Premium)

This design, the first of our premium templates in this template pack, is super versatile for all sorts of listening situations. In this imagined design scenario, we thought it would be awesome to see the current artwork that is being discussed in the widget, and this can apply to things like podcast chapters, album tracks, news segments, etc. On the right, you see a very text-friendly layout for fitting lots of words and the standard play/seek controls.

5. Featured Works Widget (Premium)

This template is also all about the imagery, giving you a gallery layout that you can use for any presentation that has a title/subtitle that could go with it, but moreso wants to put a gallery grid of images front and center. This could be great for video playlists, recent photo uploads, recommendations, etc.

6. Featured Works List Widget (Premium)

This design is just like #5 Featured Works Widget, with the difference of giving each piece of the gallery its own line with space for a title/subtitle. This kind of design could be great if the names or text information really "matter" for what you are displaying. If that's not really important to your design, you'll probably find that a design similar to #5 Featured Works Widget is a better choice thanks to the bigger image placements.

7. Art Checklist Widget (Premium)

This design is a true interactive widget template with the checked/unchecked icons on the left. iOS lets you add interactivity to widgets in bite-sized moments like this, which riffs off of the system Reminders widget. It's pretty great that with the Large Widget size designs, you really can fit all of these things across the horizontal space, even with the images taking up some room.

8. Featured Artist Widget (Premium)

If you've made it this far, then you must be familiar with the Extra Large Widget template size that is available on iOS. This design gives you an example of just how much you can do with that XL space. This widget contains a whole paragraph at a readable size, plus an image panel, plus a whole module with a photo and title/subtitle. That is a lot. This template can aid you the next time you are looking to master this advanced size.

Future Template Packs

This was a look at our template pack this month, but fret not, for there will be many more! It's one of our favorite things to do, making these designs. We'll be back with another template pack for May '25 and we also plan on adding additional packs that aren't tied to months. As always, each template pack stays in DetailsPro, they don't disappear each month, and they include some free templates and some premium templates available with DetailsPro Premium. If you get DetailsPro Premium, you get all of the templates to use in your designs and you get additional advanced features of the app. We hope you subscribe, but we have made DetailsPro to work for people free forever as well.

'Til next time!
